We asked Alicia to share a bit about what keeps her pushing and striving to #MakeItHappen in business!!!

  1. First, we’d like to thank you so much for being a featured guest on our blog.Tell us a little bit about your business ventures. I am Alicia owner of Touched By Innocence; a wedding and private event full service company. We specialize in design & planning (what we like to call) "Celebrations of Love". Serving NJ, NY, & PA areas.
  2. What propelled you to venture off into entrepreneurship? When I was on maternity leave I had the time to evaluate my life and what I really wanted for my future. Having & preparing for a child really makes you think about life a little deeper. I wanted a career that I am passionate about and to support a particular lifestyle. I also wanted a different sense of security for my future. As I watched many family members work all of their lives, have a 401k, etc and when they really needed their "security blanket" to help them it was difficult. Planning & designing "Love Celebrations" brings so much joy to my heart it's unexplainable.

  3. What are three important lessons you’ve learned since starting out in your business(es)?
    1. Business is Business. Even between family & friends.2. The journey is a long one & you have to put in the work. 3. Remember your why & stay focused on the bigger picture to get you through the rough times.
  4. Have you faced any particular struggles being a woman owned business owner? The balance between being a mother & a womanpreneur. It takes many hours to run a successful business; especially a 1 woman show. You are the accountant, the marketing team, the planner, the design team, the sales department, the owner, and sometimes the graphic designer. So learning the basics actually applying them and nuturing a toddler can be a lot to juggle. So I celebrate every positive step and make sure to take out time for my little busy bee.
  5. Tell us a little bit about your support circle; who do you rely upon for support and guidance? I am fortunate to have a good support team. My mother and various family members help with my son and even though some do don't understand my madness they are supportive of my company. I also rely on the Refine Group on Facebook. The Refine Group is a group of Wedding planners who help each other with tips, mis-haps, & vital information. So when I'm unsure I can always rely on them to help out. Of course the man in my life is my biggest fan. He is there to keep my focused and help in any way that he can.

  6. What advice would you give other women seeking to delve into entrepreneurship? Be passionate about the field of entrepreneurship you are thinking of entering. Do not do it for the money. Of course you have to get paid for the service or product you are producing; just don't let the money be the main reason you are starting. The money won't motivate you to keep going when you haven't made a sale, when you need to work 80 hours for 20 hours worth of compensation, or we you simply just get bored of the company.
  7. Supporting other women in business is part of our mantra so tell us how can we support your business ventures? Exposure & networking. Our motto is to spread acts of love within the community.
