Claudia Pertrilli is A Woman Making it Happen

Welcome to our weekly edition of Women Making it Happen (#WomenMakingItHappen). Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday we feature a woman entrepreneur who’s making it happen in the world of entrepreneurship! She's gonna share with us how she keeps it moving for her business venture(s).

"Feminism isn't about making women strong. Women are already strong. It's about changing the way the world perceives that strength." —G.D. Anderson
Today’s featured woman is Claudia Pertrilli, a holistic health coach where coaches individuals on making healthy food choices.

We asked Claudia to share a bit about what keeps her pushing and striving to #MakeItHappen!!!

  1. First, we’d like to thank you so much for being a featured guest on our blog.Tell us a little bit about your business ventures. Hi Shantel! I'm a multi-preneur with a health coaching biz and a graphic design biz. As a health coach, I work with women who are tired of yo-yo dieting, feeling guilty about their food choices and not loving what they see in the mirror. I help them figure out why they crave certain foods and how to find food and exercise they love, so they can finally feel confident in themselves. As a graphic designer with over 10 years of experience, I work with small business owners (mostly females) to market their business online, so they can go BIG.
  2. What propelled you to venture off into entrepreneurship? I started a freelance side gig during my first job out of college. I craved creativity and freedom that was not fulfilled by working a corporate job. Additionally, I never felt that my skills were completely utilized at any job I had. In my last corporate job, I watched colleague after colleague get laid off. It was heart-breaking to see them worry about how they would pay their bills. I told myself I would never allow someone else to have my life in their hands

  3. What are three important lessons you have learned since starting out in your business(es)? That it's extremely hard work, you have to make some sacrifices in the beginning, but perseverance and consistency pay off.

  4. Have you faced any particular struggles being a woman owned business owner? For the most part, no. However, when I first started my health coaching practice, I took a part-time job at a chiropractic wellness center, where I was told I'd be their resident health coach. Unfortunately, I was not treated as an equal to the other practitioners in the office and ended up answering phones and scheduling patients. Other than that, I've been lucky enough to meet many wonderful men and women who have supported me.

  5. Tell us a little bit about your support circle; who do you rely upon for support and guidance? I have a health coach mentor, who is amazing. She's been coaching for years and is extremely knowledgable. Additionally, I'm very involved in some Facebook groups for entrepreneurs. I also belong to a networking group. They hold several live events and it's a great way to interact with other women entrepreneurs.
  6. What advice would you give other women seeking to delve into entrepreneurship? Go for it! Don't let your fears get in the way. Ask for help, set boundaries with family and friends and work on mindset issues early on. We can be our biggest critic and our fears hold us back from living the life we want and deserve. I've worked with coaches, took courses, read a lot of books and listened to a ton of podcasts to get to where I am today. And I'm always still learning. Education is so important!

  7. Supporting other women in business is part of our mantra so tell us how can we support your business ventures? That's awesome! I'm going to be re-launching my top-selling program, Kick Sugar to the Curb in September, so would love a shout out for that. Additionally, I'm working on a beta program for men. So many health and weigh loss coaches cater to women, but I feel that men need just as much guidance when it comes to their nutrition and health. I'm hoping to launch that in the fall.
